JumpCloud

JumpCloud restructured pricing in 2025-26. Cheapest SSO entry is now the standalone $3/user/mo module; bundled SSO Package at $11/user/mo includes MFA and directory. Platform Prime (formerly top tier with a public price) is now quote-only.

1.Year-1 TCO breakdown

Representative buyer: 200 employees, 30 SaaS apps, full SAML + MFA + lifecycle automation, 90-day audit retention.

Licensing (200 seats)200 seats × $13/mo (SSO + MFA + Directory + Lifecycle modules) × 12 = $31,200/yr
SAML tax$3/user/mo for SSO module standalone. Most buyers add MFA ($3), Directory ($3), Lifecycle ($4) — stacks to $13.

MFA$3/user/mo MFA module separately, or bundled in $13 stack.

2.The hidden cost category for this IdP

Hidden cost

Module stacking is the structural cost driver. JumpCloud's modular pricing looks competitive — $3/user/mo SSO standalone — but most production deployments stack 4-5 modules to ~$13-$15/user/mo, comparable to Okta Core Essentials. The trap: buyers see the $3 SSO figure and don't model the full stack, then discover the real cost at renewal. JumpCloud's strength is genuine module flexibility (can buy SSO without MFA, useful for some deployments); the weakness is most production deployments need most modules.

3.Migration cost out of JumpCloud

Migration off JumpCloud runs $60K-$180K. JumpCloud's open-directory approach means apps connect via standard SAML/SCIM — easier to migrate than Okta's custom Workflows. Main migration cost is rebuilding MDM (device management) policies which use JumpCloud's proprietary mechanisms.

4.The negotiation lever

Module bundling discounts. Buyers committing to all modules upfront get 20-30% off list. The lever: negotiate the full stack at signing rather than adding modules incrementally — incremental additions don't get the bundle discount.
